What Tarraxinha and a Jar of peanut butter have in common?
Read below to understand this metaphor. This is the first tip associated to this post, “Try to find easy ways to make your communication easily understandable!”
This is a technique we use quite often in the ALC Methodology. Every time we are able to find visual images or daily experiences to explain a movement, the students understanding raise a lot.
If you don’t know what Tarraxinha is, give a look to this blog post here.
Let’s go now to the topic of this post.
Why it is difficult?
Tarraxinha is very difficult to improve, mainly because it is difficult to understand the movement visually.
You look at a dancer that you think has an incredible Tarraxinha movement, you see that a lot is happening, but you can’t break the movements. It is something as a whole, but without understanding the parts.
How to make it easier —>
- Improve your movement intention by practicing the visual movement
One technique we developed in the ALC Methodology is to identify visual movement, practice and then transform it into an intention of movement.
Allow your brain and body to understand the movement by executing it in a big and visual way.
Practice this way to gain awareness and with each repetition you will decrease the amplitude, connecting the movement points in a more continuous and internal way.
A visual image for you.
Imagine that you are inside a jar of peanut butter.
That paste is very dense and doesn’t let you move, but you will try, you will even start to sweat with so much effort.
Result, there is a lot of internal movement, the intention of movement, which does not pass outside, there is no visual movement
GOLDEN TIP
Use the floor to move your body.
Your movement in Tarraxinha, will improve exponentially with greater awareness of using pressure against the ground to be able to move the body as a consequence.
The movement of the legs, hips, butt and torso are the result of pressure against the floor.
